Can I bring my own Paddle Board?
Forestry England Lynford Water, Norfolk. Currently does not allow personal use of paddleboards, canoes or kayaks, as the degree of user experience cannot be ascertained or accredited therefore for safety reasons, we have decided to only allow one approved provider (SUP Whales) who has been trained, briefed on Health and Safety of the site with biosecurity and conservation concerns.
What is Paddle Boarding?
Paddle boarding, also known as stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), is a water sport where individuals stand on a large board and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water.
Are spectators welcome?
Of course! and at no extra cost. We only ask that if you wish to take pictures all parties must consent.
Do I need prior experience to Paddle Board with SUP Whales?
No prior experience is necessary. Paddle boarding schools cater for beginners and offer lessons suitable for all skill levels.
What safety measures are in place during lessons?
SUP Whales prioritises safety and will provide instructions on water safety, including how to properly wear a personal flotation device (PFD), waist leash and appropriate clothing. How to handle emergencies, and how to navigate different water conditions. All Instructors are qualified through Paddle UK. We also have fully qualified FREC3 (First Responder Emergency Care to a level 3 standard) and Open Water Life Guard to administer medical aid by The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK)
Are there any age restrictions?
Whilst we can take on participants from the age of 5, we kindly ask parents to consider how comfortable their child is in the water, and getting wet!
What equipment is provided for the session?
Paddle board, fins, leashes, paddles, and personal flotation devices/buoyancy aids.
Do I need to know how to swim to Paddle Board?
Whilst it is advantageous to know how to swim, it is not required as a personal flotation device (PFD) will be provided. Please ensure you are comfortable being in the water and getting wet.
What shall I wear?
Please wear quick-drying clothes that you don't mind getting wet as well as a spare change of clothes. Bring sensible footwear such as wetshoes (no flip flops/crocs). You are welcome to wear a wetsuit.
You will need a towel, bottle of water/refreshments, cap/hat and sunblock in case it’s hot (we hope!)!
Are their toilet facilities? Is there somewhere I can get changed?
Toilet facilities are located near the Shepherds Baa ( A great place for refreshments) at the entrance to the car park.
A changing tent is provided for your privacy and comfort.
I am not comfortable with my picture being taken, can I still join in the fun?
Absolutely, please let us know beforehand. We will not use any images of you, unless we have your consent.
All pictures used on our website and socials have been approved by the participants - even the images of them not on the water!
